Germany stops the sale of Red Bull after discovery of Cocaine in the drink

Red Bull is removed from the shelf in parts of Germany after traces of cocaine was found in the energy drink.

On Friday it was prohibited to sell Red Bull in stores in parts of Germany. A test found 0.4 milli grams of Cocaine in the energy drink. The tests were performed in one the German State Nordrheim-Westfalens. Five other stats within Germany have removed Red Bull from stores with immediate effect.

Cocaine in such small amounts are not dangerous, but is a violation to the regulations and laws the health department in Germany tells. There is expected a more detailed report this Tuesday on this matter.

The producer of  the energy drink says the coca leaves are used all over the world as a taste additive and is not dangerous at all, and the drink is not dangerous to drink either. They claim that the product should be sold as usual and claim they have not found any trace of Cocaine in the drinks through their own tests

Red Bull has become a very popular drink all over the world and is a large sponsor to sports events and to happenings associated with high activity levels where lots of energy is required.

How much this case can destroy the image of Red Bull is not certain, however Red Bull must take this event seriously to minimize its negative impact.

We will just have to wait and see if other health authorities around the world will take Red Bull energy drink under securitization and test it for illegal substances.
