Ralph: Watch Jersey Shore
In contrast to the usual reality-show TV casts, where it seems that talent scouts have tried to find the world's least stable and charming sex addicts and throw them together in a place with dubious decor,'Watch Jersey Shore' did something truly incredible : it found the only practical folks left auditioning for reality television programs. Through the course of the show, Snookie spends almost all of her time on the phone with her father, Vinnie and Ronnie's families all come to visit, bearing food, and everybody makes reference to how much they miss their moms and dads back home. In a whole world of bizarrao reality tv stars, there was something quite refreshing about twenty-somethings who were open about how well they were given together with their parents.
Naturally,'Jersey Shore' had more than its share of campy moments, making it enormously popular with those who simply wanted to watch a grown man say, without irony, that the daily running order was'gym, tan, laundry.' And there are lots of people to giggle at, but usually they are overly-intoxicated women and men taking swings at cast members. The cast themselves were sweethearts, deferential of girls and one another, and incredibly well-adjusted. It's been a long time since any one well-adjusted was on MTV, let alone on any fact TV show on Sky TV.
